The Kingdom Recollections

2017-2018

linocut

This work builds on the themes of home and belonging explored in The Kingdom series. Living permanently in Australia, I am now removed from first-hand observation of a place once unfamiliar, which I formed an eventual connection with. For these works I rely on memory and sketches. I continue to experiment on the intersection of different printmaking techniques with an interpretation of Islamic and Bedouin artistic traditions that have influenced my practice. These prints respond to the idea of physical absence from a place that became a home, and the artefacts and objects that embody this memory and nostalgia.
